Censorship Got Me Pregnant. Tennessee teens demand comprehensive sex education. Also includes facts regarding American teen pregnancies:
The U.S. teenage birth rate is the highest in the developed world: twice as high as Canada's, two and a half times as high as Australia's, four times as high as Germany's, five times as high as France's, seven times as high as the Netherlands', and about nine times as high as Japan's (Abma et al., 2004).

Reasons for the lower rates of teenage childbearing in these countries include:

Mandatory, medically accurate sexuality education programs that provide comprehensive information and encourage teens to make responsible choices

Easy access to contraception and other forms of reproductive health care, including abortion

Social acceptance of adolescent sexual expression as normal and healthy

Straightforward public health media campaigns

Government support for the right of teens to accurate information and confidential services (Berne & Huberman, 1999)

Dueling sex-ed bills in Assembly.

School Board Dumps Sex-Ed Curriculum. Heaven forbid students learn complete and accurate information. I went to look at the materials through ETR Publishing and know what I found? Book after book that talked about abstinence as well as STD Prevention. Whatever materials this doctor was looking at could not have been complete, and may have been a purchasing mistake on the part of the school board if they're so worried about shoving conservative morals down the throats of its students. I already ranted about this in [livejournal.com profile] kinknews and in a letter to the author of the article. Don't have time to repeat it here right now.

Planned Parenthood strives to supplement Latinos' sex education. As always, Planned Parenthood is the voice of reason. If only they weren't so hated in Texas, they might actually make a difference there.

Bush administration plays to religious right in delaying contraceptive approval. Susan Wood is my hero today. ^__^
The FDA Office of Women's Health director Susan Wood resigned five days after the indefinite deferment in protest, stating, "I can no longer serve as staff when scientific and clinical evidence, fully evaluated and recommended for approval by the professional staff here, has been overruled." The Government Accountability Office conducted an investigation into the complaint in October, focusing on the initial rejection of the application, which was signed by then-Acting Director Lester Crawford.

And for a completely unrelated, but interesting topic:

From palm reading to burgers, blood donation centers have it all. (Japan)

What have we learned from all of this? Conservatives are taking over our political seats and our school boards, the Religious Right continuously looks down its nose at science, Planned Parenthood somehow manages to prevail despite the up-hill battles it faces, and if you want to give blood, go to Japan.

Imaginative, erotic, passionate

You prefer to have one partner and to try everything with them. You have an enormous sexual appetite, and you often create sexy scenarios to play out with your significant other.

We all know I'm kinky, but I like how I'm *just* over the line between love and lust. And their results, of course, don't include polyamory. Assume that's "a few long-term partners" instead of just one. ^__^
