Man, she needs to lop NoVa out of Jesusland. We're better than that here! However, Canada South is very accurate for most of Michigan. Other than the parts around Grand Rabids.

Agreed. As I said to [livejournal.com profile] bzarcher, the "North Jesusland" not only seems inappropriate for several of those states, it's overkill on the use of the word. Again, I suggest we come up with a different name and edit the image. :)

Speaking as one of the majority of Ohioan popular voters who do NOT want to be in any sort of Jesusland, the map creater can go fuck herself.

(Sorry, Raven - this isn't you, mostly. I'm just very, very tired of my state and my people getting lumped in with those utter fucks, no matter what we do.)

I agree. Just as [livejournal.com profile] threegoldfish, there are several states in that area that aren't Bible-thumpin'. I think the whole "North Jesusland" is overkill and should be renamed something else. We could always edit it to be named something else. :)

*nods* Given the amount of Immigrant heritage out here, 'Settlerton' would work. Or maybe 'Newer England' or 'West Ireland.'

I think my favorite parts are Utah and Texas all by themselves, the former for very good reasons, and New York City/Long Island as all one country to themselves. :)

Utah's just...odd. Such a very odd, odd state.

Though properly, I bet most Mormons would prefer the map called them 'Deseret'.

We actually have a second hand store here named that. Scary, eh?

[identity profile] bzarcher.livejournal.com 2005-09-07 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I find that rather amusing.

Dude, we get that here and we did in PA too. Doesn't matter where you go - some dumb fuck insists that right heah is Jesusville or God'stown or some such. But you guys get it most consistently. hmmm.

[identity profile] bzarcher.livejournal.com 2005-09-06 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's our proximity to Kentucky. It's the only explanation I've got.

Besides, you guys get some Godstown because of all the Amish, but at least they're the -nice- bible thumping sorts. Keep it at home, and just come out to sell me chairs, woodwork, and apple butter.

God, I love the Amish.

Heartland - wooHAH! That explains all the massive coronaries.

Although we here in Iowa call the area "Sinus Valley" since everyone who lives here suffers from migraines and sinus troubles that get worse every year - because of the river and the shit that flows up and down it. So would that make Iowa the leaky valve of the Heartlands?

[identity profile] neversremedy.livejournal.com 2005-09-05 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Urk. Not a pleasant thought.

So if New York gets its own little blank space, how come SF doesn't?

(& I know plenty of Oregonians and Washingtonians who would be mortified to be linked with Californians even in jest... lol)

I don't know why there's no San Francisco country, but it probably has to do with why there's no L.A. country either. :)

I know plenty of Oregonians and Washingtonians who would be mortified to be linked with Californians

That's their problem, and they can toddle off to a red state and mope about it there. ;)
