a recent article from the Wall Street Journal regarding a potential cure for HIV using bone marrow transplants from donors with
an immunity. I had heard about people who were resistant to the HIV virus, and how it related somewhat to people whose ancestors survived the Black Plague (sorry, source several years old, can't cite), but I did find related articles to
mutant genes immune to HIV that have been found in two women in China and
research into modifying T-Cells to create immunity.
So, now we see a glimmer of hope. Although I doubt there are enough donors yet, and surgery is expensive, there remains that tiny fleck of hope that can bring about optimism in the face of such a horrid disease.
