Knitting Porn and Other Links
Jan. 29th, 2009 05:36 pmFor a very long time I've been hearing about recycled saris turned into yarn for crafts projects. At first, I heard about it as a humanitarian project in India to help provide revenue to impoverished women. Even though I started knitting in August, I kept forgetting to look into getting some recycled sari silk yarn, and when I'd remember, I wasn't anywhere near a computer. So, I finally remembered, and I found this site and like very much what I'm seeing. I need to get through some of my current projects (and balls of yarn) before I can justify spending money on more, but I want to share this link and hold onto it for when I'm ready. If you know of other companies that provide this product (and thus the income to a community that could use the sales), please let me know.
And now, for some other links that I've found interesting lately and wanted to share:
Scoundrelle's web site of corsetry and other apparel; highly recommended. She's plus-sized and she gets it, and promised that in a few months she'll have plus-sized Sabine corsets available to order. Keep your eyes out for sales!
Learned a new phrase recently: sui generis. How unique. ^_^
Hello Kitty Hospital in Taiwan helps mothers feel more comfortable.
Tablecloth as Table. Interesting concept, I'm not sure I like that particular execution. I also don't know if I could do any better.
Obama-Meter is tracking Obama's promises and the actions he takes to support them. I've been refreshing this every couple of days to see it change. It's been almost ten days and he's already: kept 6 promises, broken 1, compromised on 1, and put 17 in motion. 485 to go!
