Second Birthday

Today, Caelan is two years old. He's 2'11" and full of energy. Though he loves to run and dance and climb and explore like any toddler, he is surprisingly cautious before tackling new environments and challenges.
He adores singing, dancing, and music more than any other activity. He loves animals, prefers being outside, likes his gymnastics class, has a mild obsession with wheels, and enjoys ordering people around.
Forthright in his opinions, he communicates often, working hard to say things just right, despite difficulty with making certain sounds (e.g. "th" instead of "s"). He tells us what he wants to do, tries to help out, and scares the cats with his affectionate manner.
Before he turned two, he not only showed a startling level of language comprehension and body awareness, but also of local geography. When driving around town, he can point out the library, PCC, Whole Foods, where the fountain is in a given plaza, and which neighbor's house has chickens. When walking, he knows which street to turn on to head to the library, versus the one to the wetlands or elementary school playground.
It doesn't matter the weather, he wants to wear his Batman rain boots, never mind that he's never watched a single show with Batman in it.
Today is his birthday, and after taking me on a long walk, and then enjoying the lunch I made all of us, he asked to watch Sherlock. We were expecting My Little Pony or Princess Tutu. Nope. Sherlock. He nodded his head for emphasis, because he's still learning how to say yes.
He as yet still has blonde hair, blue eyes, and a determined nature to get what he wants and avoid sleep.
