Tomorrow, January 20th, those in Washington D.C. can participate in Turn Your Back On Bush during Bush's re-inauguration. I don't think it will be as effective for me to turn my back to the television, so I ask anyone who can make it, to be there to voice your opinion in silent protest.

Today

I just witnessed a performance by some amateur dancers from Nepal Seattle Society. I am deeply charmed and now I need to learn Nepali dances. Damnit.

I was just conversing with Jen about our romantic relationships with Aquarians, and it seems we've had similar experiences. "In the beginning, we find that we connect on all levels, everything is blissful and wonderful, and then 'whathafuh?!'"

This is why I don't get involved with Aquarians anymore. It always ends up with me wondering what the hell they're talking about, why my interest completely dropped off one day, and why they blame me for everything that's ever gone wrong in their lives. I mean, really, WTF? My experiences have only involved three lovers/friends with possibility, and now I just back away slowly from men I find interesting who tell me they're an Aquarius. I'm starting to wonder if anyone can actually be in a long-term committed relationship with Aquarian men. Not that it's always true, but I'm taking precautions to get caught up in another one of those emotional dramas--whatever happened, we were both to blame for the changes.

Science Fiction read yesterday

Reading the second book in a series by Frank Herbert and Bill Ransom titled The Lazarus Effect (published 1983) in which the Islanders use "organics" for their islands, furniture, boats, etc. It's a living skin-like tissue that forms for its shape and is grown to take on a certain purpose. These organics are grown in a nutrient bath and must be "fed" by being painted with slurry every week. Nutrient baths are mentioned many times in relationship to various artifacts of their lives. This same manipulation technology is used to affect their genetics and cosmetic surgery.

Science Fact read today

Found article published yesterday by the BBC about skin and bones "made to measure."
Human cells are suspended in a nutrient-rich liquid before being printed out in several thin layers.

Project leaders say the method could be used to build an organ in a day.

Welcome to the future. Anyone up for a game of Shadowrun before it becomes outdated?

Anyone feel generous for Valentine's Day? Yes, I would wear this shirt if someone bought it for me. It's not THE Choo Choo Bear shirt I wanted most, but that was only offered at a limited engagement of The Vagina Monologues at a college out of state. This shirt will more than suffice. ::blinks sweetly::
